Did you know we had fireflies in Cache Valley? I made it all the way to Alabama to see my first firefly only to realize they were less than 5 miles away in Nibley’s wetlands.
The fireflies can be seen in early to mid-june and stop lighting up by early July. They don’t usually come out until about 10 p.m. Their visibility can be influenced by wind, temperature, and how wet the summer is. You may see them one night and not the next.
You can park in either the parking lot for Heritage Park, located at 2380 S 800 W, or in the Firefly Park parking lot, located at 2400 S 1000 W.
Be quiet for the neighbors and don’t add light pollution and most importantly do not attempt to catch the fireflies.
